IS MOTHER AFRICA SEEING THIS?

I AM TIRED
Aids why are you eating away my people?
Spare me the squeals and terror
You consumed the designers of my destiny
They relentlessly fought with you
Like waves of dissent against waves of assent
Like floods of retribution against floods of attribution
They fought as I helplessly watched
You dragged them to the ground to rot
Slowly but surely you ate them as I watched
Why are you eating my people?

You crawled to my doctor
The one who dispersed all illnesses
One who always tried to maintain my breath?
As sure as silence you crept into him
I am now doctor-less, lifeless
My health deteriorated drastically
For you started disintegrating him
You saw me lie in bed, but you still took him away
I now have a generator for a chest
For my doctor is now rotting
Why are you eating away my people?

To my teacher you relentlessly ran
You had head on collision with him
Forcing yourself into him with no mercy
He no longer comes to teach me
I watch the door hoping to see him once more
Fully loaded, knowledge and wisdom
Ready to drum it into my empty coconut
It’s now as empty as never
For he no longer comes to teach me
Why are you consuming my people?

The police guarded my door day and night
You told him I dint deserve the security
Thugs robed me of rugs
Pathetic remnants of my inheritance
They sucked consciousness out of me
By destroying my holy temples
My guard, you squashed him into pieces
Insecurity was born and I no longer see the sun
Why don’t you let the sun shine on me? Why?
Squeals of terror and torrents of tears
Are my daily oxygen for you are cruel
Why are you consuming my people?
Am orphaned, on the streets begging
Am hungry, thirsty, naked, sick
And sons and daughters of motherland
Spit on me; kick me out of their way
For my loved ones are no more
Whom do I belong to?
Motherland, do you know that I exist? Do you? I stagger all night through
Hoping the protected rapist will never find me
Under the blackness of never ending skies
When will you ever have mercy? When?
Why are you eating away my people?

You’re tortured and tormented me beyond tolerance
Am now gaining momentum
Am coming to disintegrate you, to consume you
Make you rot with them, those whom you made rot
I will run away from you for now
But armed to the teeth I’ll come to you
I’ll make you rest in pieces
For you never let them rest in piece.
